Center opening hours for MIRTC students: from Monday to Friday, from 9:00am to 5:00pm

The main objective of the course is:

  • To equip oneself at the conceptual, emotional, and technical levels to guide the self-development of children in Montessori environments for ages 12 to 18.

This involves:

  • Understanding in depth the developmental psychology of children according to the theory of Dr. María Montessori, which aligns with the latest scientific discoveries.
  • Knowing thoroughly the Montessori approach to support the self-development of children while also contributing to societal improvement.
  • Preparing personally and emotionally to observe adolescents and approach their self-development respectfully.
  • Understanding and documenting the didactic and methodological proposals across all areas of knowledge in an interdisciplinary manner.
  • Knowing in detail the resources, materials, and prepared environment for adolescents aged 12 to 18
  • Being able to present lessons and activities from different areas of the curriculum appropriately.
  • Understanding the organizational tools and techniques necessary to direct and manage Montessori environments for ages 12 to 18.

1st Summer

  • Theoretical Foundations of the Montessori Approach in Education Applied to Adolescence Aged 12 to 18 Years.
  • The transformation of the adult, observation techniques, and management of a Montessori classroom for ages 12 to 18.
  • Life and work of Maria Montessori.
  • Stages of development.
  • Observation course.
  • Characteristics of the 0-6 and 6-12 planes and their key materials.
  • Seminars on required readings.
  • In-depth study of 6-12.
  • Adolescent study and work plan.
  • In-depth study of the first and second planes.
  • Cosmic education.
  • The center for study and work: the farm.

2nd Summer

  • We will begin to develop projects and occupations according to each discipline.

3rd Summer

First Plan: 15 hours (instructions will be provided)

  • 0-3 (6 hours).
  • 3-6 (9 hours).

Second Plan: 18 hours (instructions will be provided)

  • 6-9 (9 hours).
  • 9-12 (9 hours).

Third Plan: 80 hours (2.5 full weeks), 30 hours per week.

Two weeks of practice and residency in an AMI Adolescent Community environment with a farm and AMI guides.
